ABOUT JOAN

Joan Kuhl is a passionate champion for inclusive and equitable leadership, working to change the way women rise and thrive at work and in their lives. She is an author, training facilitator, sought-after speaker, thought leader, conference designer, consultant, MBA advisor, executive coach and research project leader with decades of global research and consulting experience 

After 14 years in the pharmaceutical industry, Joan launched Why Millennials Matter/The Kuhl Co. in 2014 as a training, research and consulting company, leveraging her expertise in gender + generational dynamics, to create positive change for women in the workplace and build inclusive, equitable cultures around them. 

Joan designs leadership and management training, talent management discussions and team building sessions for global groups across diverse industries. Over 650+ employees in 24 countries in 5 different time zones have participated in her signature program, Stay To Lead, a leadership retention and advancement program. 

Joan's international speaking engagements and consulting have impacted leaders from over 60 countries with clients such as Eli Lilly, Goldman Sachs, Johnson & Johnson, Discovery Communications, Moody’s, FINRA, Novo Nordisk, Viacom, US Soccer and the NY Mets.

She is the author of Dig Your Heels In: Navigate Corporate BS and Build the Company You Deserve (April 2019) and Misunderstood Millennial Talent (2016).

Her expertise has been featured in the NY Times, Harvard Business Review, CNBC, SUCCESS, as well as The Washington Post, and she is a Contributor to ForbesWomen and NBC Know Your Value. 

Joan is a #SheBelieves Ambassador for the U.S. Soccer Organization where she developed The SheBelieves Academy, a national leadership curriculum on confidence and community content to inspire women and girls to achieve their goals on and off the field.  As the Career Expert for Barnes & Noble College, she led initiatives to support the 5 million students on 725+ campuses they serve.

Joan has served as a board member for Girls Inc of NYC and the Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute, named after the former CEO of the Girls Scouts of the USA. She currently serves as the curriculum advisor to LiveGirl, a Connecticut-based nonprofit organization that prepares the next generation of diverse, brave female leaders to make a positive impact on the world. She is also a certified facilitator of the Fair Play Method—a modern solution for equitable systems in the home and workplace based on the NY Times bestselling book by Eve Rodsky and backed by Hello Sunshine and WRK 360.

Joan earned her B.S.B.A. at the University of Pittsburgh and her M.B.A. at Rutgers University, where she studied global management in Shanghai and Beijing, China. Joan enjoys cheering on the US Women's National Soccer Team with her husband and two daughters.
